First grid connection of photovoltaic generation in Egypt

According to Egypt's General Investment Authority, Egypt is currently planning to make grid connection for the first time photovoltaic production of electricity.

Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy, Hassan Younis. Energy companies are required to stop all maintenance work until the end of the summer, and they must not interrupt the supply of electricity on the grounds of power maintenance to cope with the ever-increasing energy output demand and solve the energy shortage currently facing the country.

The Egyptian General Investment Agency declared that a group of experts will be dispatched to these power plants and monitor the power equipment units in real time to resolve any problems that may arise at any time.

Considered from a long-term perspective, Egypt’s General Investment Administration stated that the Egyptian government plans to strengthen the country’s energy supply capacity and stability by enhancing the use of renewable energy. In addition, the department stated that Younys has established a photovoltaic power plant facility, ready to fully connect the electricity generated by this 140MW solar power plant to the national grid. However, when was the specific time for network access not disclosed.

Egypt’s ideal is to be able to fill 14% of energy demand with renewable energy, and the minister of electric energy is expected to be more ideal. He hopes that by 2025, Egypt’s renewable energy will account for 28% of total energy consumption.
