There are many light sources for lamps, and the light sources for household lamps are currently more common in incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps and LED lamps. Let's take a look at the characteristics of these four light sources and the applicable space.
1, incandescent lamp
Also known as a light bulb, its working principle is that heat is generated when the current passes through the filament (tungsten wire, melting point reaches 3,000 degrees Celsius), and the spiral filament continuously collects heat, so that the temperature of the filament reaches 2000 degrees Celsius or more, and the filament is in an incandescent state. It shines like the red iron that glows. The higher the temperature of the filament, the brighter the light emitted. Therefore, it is called an incandescent lamp.
Advantages: small light source, a wide variety of lampshade forms; large versatility, multi-color variety, directional, scattering, diffuse and other forms; can be used to enhance the stereoscopic effect of objects, incandescent light is closest to sunlight color.
Disadvantages: Non-environmental protection is the biggest disadvantage. When using incandescent lamps, 95% of the electricity is consumed in heating. Only 5% of the electric energy is truly converted into visible light; the heating temperature is high, the heat evaporates quickly, and the life is long. Short (1000 hours), high infrared content, susceptible to vibration, low color temperature, yellow.
2, fluorescent lights
Also known as fluorescent lamps, the fluorescent tubes contain argon (including krypton or neon) and a few drops of mercury. By the mercury atom of the lamp tube, the ultraviolet light is released by the process of gas discharge, and the visible light is emitted by the fluorescent material on the inner surface of the lamp tube. Different phosphors emit different visible light.
Advantages: Energy saving, about 60% of the energy consumed by fluorescent lamps can be converted into ultraviolet light, and other energy is converted into thermal energy. Generally, the efficiency of converting ultraviolet light into visible light is about 40%. Therefore, the efficiency of the fluorescent lamp is about 60% x 40% = 24% - about twice that of the same power tungsten filament lamp.
Disadvantages: light decay occurs, fluorescent lamps are less colored than incandescent lamps; flashing lights have a certain impact on vision; in addition, mercury contamination occurs during production and after disposal.
3, energy saving lamp
Also known as a compact fluorescent lamp, the principle of illumination is not significantly different from that of fluorescent lamps. However, the energy-saving lamps are relatively small in size, and the electronic ballast volume used is small, and the stroboscopic phenomenon is alleviated.
Advantages: high luminous efficiency, more than 5 times that of ordinary incandescent lamps, energy saving effect is obvious; long life, about 8 times that of ordinary light bulbs; and small size, easy to use.
Disadvantages: light decay; low color rendering, incandescent and halogen lamps with a color rendering of 100, perfect performance; energy-saving lamps are mostly between 80 and 90, low-color light source not only looks at the color is not beautiful It is also harmful to health and vision.
4, LED lights
Also known as a light-emitting diode, it is a solid-state semiconductor device that converts electricity directly into light. The heart of the LED is a semiconductor wafer consisting of three parts, one is a P-type semiconductor and the other end is an N-type semiconductor, where it is mainly electrons, usually in the middle of a quantum well of 1 to 5 cycles. When a current is applied to the wafer through a wire, electrons and holes are pushed into the vector sub-well. In the quantum well, the electrons recombine with the holes, and then the energy is emitted in the form of photons. This is the principle of LED illumination.
Advantages: LED lamps have many advantages such as small size, low power consumption, long life, non-toxic and environmental protection, etc., originally applied to outdoor decoration, engineering lighting, and now gradually develop into household lighting.
Disadvantages: expensive, need constant current drive, heat dissipation is not easy to light decay.
Summary: The light source is the core of the luminaire. Different light sources have different color temperature and energy saving. Everyone needs to decide according to their own needs and price when purchasing. Next, look at the main factors that need to be considered when purchasing lamps, as well as the spatial applicability.
