Korean scientists extract high purity lycopene from watermelon

South Korean scientists announced that they have successfully extracted lycopene from watermelon, which has anti-cancer and anti-aging effects.

According to the Korea Food Research Institute, the purity of lycopene extracted by some foreign laboratories and companies is only 1% to 15%, while the purity of lycopene extracted by the new technology is up to 80%.

Lycopene contained in fruits and vegetables is a pale red natural pigment. The results of the study show that lycopene can not only effectively combat cancer and cardiovascular diseases, but also delay aging.

According to the researchers, the lycopene preparations produced in the past can only be dissolved in oil, and the lycopene preparations produced by the new process can be dissolved in water, thereby increasing the utility of the preparation. It is expected that this new invention will soon replace the traditional production process.
