The Ministry of Commerce approves Oerlikon to sell Tokyo Electron

Oerlikon Solar's subsidiary, Tokyo Electron, obtained approval from the regulatory authority of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China due to losses from Oerlikon Group's sales.

Tokyo Electron, a semiconductor equipment supplier sold to Japan, initially stated on March 2 that Tokyo Electronics had decided to buy a film company for 275 million yen.

Oerlikon Solar, headquartered in Switzerland, is the originator of the general contractor model for single crystal silicon and thin-film solar cells. At the time of the sales announcement, Dr. Michael Buscher, CEO of the Oerlikon Group, revealed that the spin-off sale was part of the company’s strategy to “simplify and balance the group’s investment portfolio”.

With the approval of the Ministry of Commerce, all necessary regulatory requirements have been met to facilitate the completion of the transaction. So these companies have entered the closing process.
