Wave energy is considered one of the most promising sources of clean and renewable power. With the ocean constantly in motion, it holds an almost limitless supply of energy. To address this issue, a team of scientists from the United States has been working on an innovative solution — an artificial submarine carpet. As shown in the image above, they have developed a flexible rubber mat that is placed on the ocean floor. This carpet moves with the waves, converting their kinetic energy into electrical power through a hydraulic system. The technology is still in the testing phase, but it has already shown great potential. The device is currently being tested at the University of California, Berkeley, and was first deployed in 2016 as part of a pilot project aimed at exploring new ways to harvest ocean energy more effectively.
