Inkjet printing solar cells can make portraits become power generation

According to foreign media reports, researchers from Aalto University have recently created a cheap inkjet solar cell. This is a battery designed specifically for low-power devices. It has shown performance and durability to be comparable to existing organic dye solar cells. According to reports, this type of battery generates electricity through thin-film printing using a concentrated fuel solution on a titanium oxide film. In addition to being able to generate electricity, it is also very pleasing and can convey information in the form of text or numeric codes.

Research team member Merve Özkan pointed out that the biggest challenge they faced in this study was how to find the right solvent for dyes and how to set accurate and uniform injection parameters for print quality.

After 1,000 hours of simulated sunlight and 1154 hours of daylight exposure tests, the finished battery performance was 6.4%.

Research reports have been published in Energy & Environmental Scien.

(DCM, or Methylene Chloride) is an organic compound with the formula CH2Cl2. This colorless, volatile liquid with a moderately sweet aroma is widely used as a solvent. Although it is not miscible with water, it is miscible with many organic solvents. One of the most well-known applications of Dichloromethane is in the drinking bird heat engine.

DCM's volatility and ability to dissolve a wide range of organic compounds makes it a useful solvent for many chemical processes.

It is widely used as a paint stripper and a degreaser. In the food industry, it has been used to decaffeinate coffee and tea as well as to prepare extracts of hops and other flavorings. Its volatility has led to its use as an aerosol spray propellant and as a blowing agent for polyurethane foams.
