Bathroom cabinets are a common feature in most family bathrooms, and keeping them in good condition is essential, especially since they are often exposed to moisture and steam. Cao Jianyu, an expert from the city's furniture industry association, shared some practical tips for maintaining bathroom cabinets effectively.
After using the bathroom, it’s important to wipe off any water that may have splashed onto the cabinet surface. Many people place soaps, facial cleansers, shampoos, and other products on the cabinet, and if these substances spill over, it’s best to clean them up right away to prevent staining or damage. Heavy items should be stored on the lower shelves to avoid putting unnecessary pressure on the upper parts of the cabinet. When cleaning, avoid using abrasive tools like steel wool or scouring pads, as well as strong chemicals or excessive water, which can cause corrosion. Instead, use mild, neutral detergents designed for this purpose.
When installing the water pipes and inlet connections, make sure the cabinet is securely attached and regularly check for leaks. If the paint on the cabinet gets scratched but doesn’t reach the wood underneath, you can touch it up with a matching crayon or pigment, followed by a thin layer of clear nail polish for protection. To keep the cabinet looking fresh, apply a cream wax every six to twelve months. This not only enhances the appearance but also helps protect the surface from moisture and wear over time.
Maintaining your bathroom cabinet properly can significantly extend its lifespan and keep your bathroom looking neat and organized. Whether it’s daily cleaning or periodic maintenance, small efforts can make a big difference in preserving the quality of your furniture.
