When installing a reverse bearing device, it is crucial to follow the correct procedures to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Begin by opening the reverse bearing package and verifying the certificate and identification labels to confirm that the type of bearing used is appropriate for the application.

The surface of the equipment should be clean and free from any residual materials such as paint, welding spatter, burrs, or other debris. When cleaning, avoid using solvents that could enter the bearing and damage its internal components. Ensure that no smoothing agents are left on the surface, and always take precautions to protect both workers and the environment during the process.

The surface roughness of the support area should not exceed Ra=12.5 μm or Ra=6.3 μm, depending on the specific requirements. The flatness of the equipment surface must be corrected for both circumferential and radial errors. The circumferential flatness tolerance should match the raceway specifications of the reverse bearing. For larger diameters, refer to the relevant standards for exact values. Radial error measurements are typically based on the flange width, with the radial plane tolerance being half of the circumferential tolerance value.

To prevent uneven surfaces or deformation of the support, limit the circumferential flatness correction to one pass within a 180-degree range, ensuring a smooth and gradual change in the surface profile.

Bearing Stiffness Requirements: Different types of reverse bearings have varying stiffness requirements. For example, standard and zero-clearance reverse bearings have different allowable deformation limits. Here’s a summary of the allowable deformation amounts for various raceway diameters:

Raceway Diameter (mm) Allowable Deformation (Standard Inversion Support) - Ball Type Allowable Deformation (Standard Inversion Support) - Roller Type Allowable Deformation (Zero-void Inversion Support) - Ball Type Allowable Deformation (Zero-void Inversion Support) - Roller Type
250 0.31 0.24 0.22 0.16
500 0.40 0.30 0.28 0.21
750 0.53 0.36 0.35 0.24
1000 0.60 0.41 0.40 0.28
1500 0.80 0.53 0.50 0.35
2000 1.0 0.60 0.68 0.40
2500 1.2 0.68 0.80 0.45
3500 1.5 0.90 1.08 0.62

For positioning reverse bearings, the inner and outer ring raceways may have a soft band. This soft band should be placed on either side of the main load plane, offset by 90 degrees from the main load zone. A blockage or "S" symbol will indicate the location of this soft band.

Before installation, check the compatibility between the reverse bearing and the equipment surface. Use a feeler gauge for accuracy. If necessary, fill gaps with suitable materials. Avoid welding on the support structure during installation.

Fastening Bolts:

  • Use properly sized, high-quality bolts and washers. Avoid full-threaded bolts and old nuts or washers.
  • Choose the correct pre-tightening torque. For general metric bolts, apply 0.6–0.7 times the yield strength. Bolts larger than M27 should use hydraulic tightening tools, with pre-tightening force not exceeding 85% of the yield strength.
  • Apply a small amount of oil to the bolt threads to ensure even friction. Do not use thread-locking adhesives.
  • Tighten the bolts in three steps: 30%, 80%, and 100% of the final torque.

Adjusting Gear Backlash: Proper adjustment of gear backlash is essential for smooth operation. Use a feeler gauge at the highest point of radial runout, or use lead wire or other methods. If the gap is out of specification, adjust the pinion position accordingly. After setting, rotate the bearing fully to check for any tooth jump points, and recheck the backlash after fixing the bearing.

Lubrication: Before initial use, ensure the raceway is smooth and well-lubricated. Apply the recommended grease according to the manufacturer's specifications. Pay special attention to all grease fittings, applying grease until it is visible at the seal ring. For gear lubrication, ensure the tooth surfaces are clean. Use a clean brush to apply the grease evenly.
