In recent years, the domestic children's furniture market has experienced rapid growth, but the results of random quality inspections by regulatory authorities have been less than satisfactory. On August 1st, the newly issued "General Technical Standards for Children's Furniture" came into effect, marking a significant shift in industry regulations. This standard is expected to impact not only finished furniture manufacturers, but also upstream material suppliers and distributors, potentially triggering a new wave of industry restructuring.
As the deadline for the new standards approaches, some brands have already begun promoting their children’s furniture products based on the updated guidelines. However, with the market for children's furniture showing signs of sluggishness this year, and the new standards raising production requirements, smaller companies may struggle to keep up, leading to closures or shifts toward other product lines. For larger, more established manufacturers, the implementation of these standards could offer an opportunity to further expand their market share.
While the new standard could serve as a powerful marketing tool, consumers are advised to request official quality inspection reports from authoritative bodies when purchasing to ensure they are getting up-to-date and safe products. Avoiding misleading claims about the "new standard" is crucial in making informed decisions.
Proper maintenance is essential for extending the life of children's furniture. Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight, and use heat-resistant pads when placing hot objects on surfaces to prevent damage. Desks should be positioned in well-lit areas, ideally with light coming from the left side. Minimize clutter and place furniture against walls to create more space for children to move around safely.
For soft furniture, avoid exposure to direct sunlight and protect it from sharp objects that can cause scratches. If stains such as oil, ink, or ballpoint pen marks appear, gently blot the area with a clean white cloth dipped in a small amount of alcohol or detergent, then dry with a dry cloth. Avoid using colored water or acidic/alkaline solutions on fabric, and if water spills, absorb it immediately with a dry cloth. If threads become loose, do not pull them off; instead, use scissors to trim them neatly.
Before using solid wood furniture, check for any loose joints and tighten them if necessary. When cleaning, use a soft cloth dampened with a mild cleaner, and avoid using dry cloths to prevent scratching the surface. Do not rinse the furniture with alkaline water, boiling water, or high-concentration alcohol, as these can damage the finish.
Avoid hitting furniture with heavy objects, dragging items across its surface, or cutting directly on it. Refrain from using paint colors different from the original when repairing. Every few years, apply a small amount of fanli water to maintain the furniture's vibrant color and luster. (Editor: Peter)
