Abstract According to Luo Baihui, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Association of Molds, Hardware, and Plastics Industry, China's machine tool industry has set clear goals for the next three years as part of its revitalization plan. The main objective is to increase the domestic market share of Chinese-made machine tools to over 70%, with CNC machine tools occupying more than 40% of the market. To achieve this, it is crucial to improve the matching rate of domestic CNC machine tools, which remains a major challenge in the industry.
Luo Baihui emphasized that the gap between China’s machine tool industry and its global counterparts is still significant, and there are two primary reasons behind this. First, the industry's development has been influenced by historical political factors. In the past, insufficient government support and a strong focus on short-term gains among enterprises led to an imbalance, where the mainframe was prioritized over components. This has created long-term weaknesses in the supply chain.
Second, investment in research and development has been limited, resulting in a weak technical foundation. While some Chinese companies can produce key components, they often use low-precision parts in their high-end CNC machines. These components may work for basic applications, but their accuracy and durability fall short compared to foreign alternatives. For instance, while imported components can last up to three years, domestically produced ones may only last about 1.5 years. This reliability issue significantly hinders the competitiveness of Chinese machine tools in both domestic and international markets.
Key components and accessories play a vital role in determining the performance and quality of machine tool mainframes. Only by developing these critical parts and improving the self-sufficiency of functional components can China build a group of globally competitive machine tool manufacturers. To achieve this, the country must accelerate technological innovation and upgrade its manufacturing capabilities. This will not only help revitalize the machine tool industry but also position China as a stronger player in the global manufacturing landscape.
Revitalizing and internationalizing the machine tool industry is not just a strategic goal—it is an inevitable trend driven by the need for technological independence and economic growth. With continued efforts and focused investment, China has the potential to close the gap and become a leader in advanced manufacturing.Other Machinery Parts,Construction Equipment Parts,Earthmoving Parts,Hyundai Machine Parts
