Open your own way! Low-cost energy storage system using solid particles

The US Department of Energy ’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has received nearly US $ 2.8 million in funding from the Department of Energy ’s Advanced Research Project (ARPA-E) for the development of a Grid energy storage and power generation systems. The system includes a high-temperature charging device, a low-cost thermal energy storage module, a high-performance heat exchanger, and a closed-loop Brayton cycle turbine. NREL will lead the project, using low-cost thermal energy storage to develop economic long-term energy storage.

NREL principal researcher Ma Zhiwen explained that when electricity is cheapest, electric heaters "charge the energy storage module by heating stable, inexpensive solid particles above 1100 degrees Celsius . " When this energy needs to be released, the hot particles will heat the working fluid through the heat exchanger and drive the high-efficiency closed-loop Brayton combined cycle system attached to the generator.

The project team includes scientists, engineers and professors from NREL; GE Global Research; Greenway Energy; Allied Mineral Products, Inc .; Purdue University; Colorado School of Mines ); And Power Engineers. The NREL-led team will develop components for long-term energy storage (LDES) systems and verify that they meet specific cost and performance goals for demonstration and commercialization.

NREL won this competitive award from the ARPA-Es Power Storage (DAYS) project, in which the team will develop an energy storage system to provide reliable and cheap electricity for the grid. The system proposed by NRELs will focus on scalability. For example, a 55-GWh heat storage system is enough to power 50,000 homes for 100 hours during a power outage. This scalability can not only support the goals of the DAYS project, but also help enhance the resilience of the power grid and promote energy growth.

First, the product description:
Water-based Curing Agent is a polymer water-based emulsion, spray the surface of the newly poured cement concrete to form a protective film, plug the concrete pores, delay water evaporation, the concrete surface to form a continuous transparent film, sufficient Hydration to achieve conservation results.
Second, the performance characteristics:
1, construction is convenient
2, is an aqueous product, will not cause damage to the human body, the environment and pollution.
3, good conservation effect, does not contain any damage to the quality of cement concrete ingredients.
4, the nature of the emulsion used in this product is stable, non-toxic.
Third, the scope of application:
New cast concrete surface such as: roads, airports, large cement concrete projects, concrete components, wear-resistant floor and so on.
Fourth, the construction process:
1, the material should be fully mixed before use.
2, the final surface of the concrete surface after calendering can spray evenly on its surface Curing Agent.
3, construction time is about 1-2 hours after calendering (depending on the ambient temperature and humidity at the time) The basic requirement is that the surface has no free water. If there is no spraying equipment, can also be used soft brush or roller construction, construction should be cautious operation, so as not to damage the concrete surface.
