Emergency Response Procedures for Subway Emergencies

If a passenger is caught between the train door and the platform screen door, they can immediately open the door by using the emergency unlocking device located on the screen door. Passengers inside the train can pull down the emergency release handle near the door to open it. Additionally, emergency stop buttons are installed at both ends of each platform. In an emergency, passengers should press the emergency stop button to halt the train. However, under normal circumstances, these devices should not be touched.

In the event of a chemical or gas attack in the subway, passengers should cover their mouths and noses with a wet cloth, handkerchief, or clothing to reduce exposure. They should identify the source of the gas and move quickly away from it, heading toward areas with good air circulation or upwind of the source. Once in a safe location, they should rinse any exposed skin with running water as soon as possible.

If a fire breaks out suddenly in a subway car, passengers should remain calm, avoid the fire area, and use the emergency communication system inside the carriage to alert the driver. Each train is equipped with a fire extinguisher, which passengers may use if the situation allows. The train will then proceed to the nearest station, open its doors, and evacuate passengers. It is important to follow staff instructions and leave the train in an orderly manner.

Here are 9 essential steps for subway evacuation:

1. When an emergency occurs and the train stops in the tunnel, the driver will use the public address system to inform and reassure passengers.

2. Passengers inside the train should wait for further instructions from the staff and follow their commands for evacuation.

3. If the train cannot move, the staff will open the emergency escape door located in the driver’s cab.

4. The staff will make an announcement over the public address system to inform passengers about the evacuation process.

5. After confirming that the third rail is de-energized, passengers will be guided by staff to enter the driver's cab through the rear door and then exit onto the tracks via the emergency ladder. On-site personnel will assist passengers during the evacuation between tunnels.

6. Passengers should follow the guidance of the staff and leave the train in an orderly fashion, heading toward the nearest station via the tunnel route.

7. Station staff will guide evacuees toward the station at both ends of the evacuation route, ensuring a smooth and safe movement.

8. Upon reaching the track near the platform, station staff will direct passengers to enter the platform area. It is crucial to obey all instructions and move in an orderly manner.

9. Once safely evacuated to the platform, passengers should remain calm while engineering staff inspect the train for faults. This ensures a swift and safe resolution to the incident.
