On December 26, the State Administration of Emergency Management and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) jointly held a symposium on safety science and technology. The event focused on exploring the application of fiber optic sensing technology in critical areas such as coal mines, non-metallic mines, petrochemical industries, and emergency rescue. The goal was to enhance the overall safety production support system and improve the level of technological protection.
Yang Yuanyuan, Deputy Director of the State Administration of Emergency Management, and Yuan Jie, Deputy General Manager of CASC, attended the forum. During the meeting, representatives from CASC provided an in-depth overview of the application of fiber optic sensing systems in safety supervision, the development of information management platforms based on this technology, and ongoing advancements in fiber optic technology. Officials from various departments of the State Administration engaged in detailed discussions with CASC personnel regarding the integration of fiber optic sensing into regulatory processes.
After the presentations, Yang Yuanyuan commended CASC for its significant progress in safety technology over recent years. He emphasized that the administration places great importance on technological innovation in safety production. Recently, Yang Dongliang, Director of the State Council's Safety Commission, called for stronger scientific and technological support in the field. Yang noted that fiber optic sensing is a promising direction, capable of improving early warning systems, preventing accidents, and reducing occupational hazards. By enabling real-time monitoring of gas and dust levels, the technology can significantly reduce health risks for workers.
Looking ahead, Yang outlined several key steps for future collaboration. First, relevant departments from both sides should work closely to integrate fiber optic sensing into major scientific research projects. Second, the administration’s departments should align their regulatory needs with the application of sensing technology to ensure it meets practical demands. Third, technical units must conduct thorough research on the current status of key industries and technological development. Finally, both parties should deepen cooperation in setting industry standards and promoting demonstration projects to continuously improve China’s safety production environment.
Representatives from the Planning Department of the State Administration of Science and Technology, the Supervision Department, the Emergency Command Center, the Communication Information Center, and other relevant agencies were also present at the forum.
