Pneumatic pressure pump composition and principle: The pneumatic section of this pump is designed with a lightweight piston, featuring an O-ring for sealing. The piston is encased in a sleeve made of epoxy resin, and the outer structure is either glass fiber wound or coated with hard aluminum. This design ensures durability and low friction. The diameter of the air piston remains consistent across all models within a series. When compressed air is introduced, the piston moves into the compression stroke, while the return stroke is achieved through air pressure (except in the M Series, which uses a spring return). Unlike many other pumps, Haskel’s design eliminates the need for lubricants due to its inherently low-friction construction and minimal assembly lubrication.
The hydraulic section includes a piston or plunger directly connected to the pneumatic piston. The lower end of the hydraulic piston is housed within the pump body. Its diameter determines the pump's compression ratio, which directly affects the output flow and maximum pressure. This component is responsible for drawing in liquid via the inlet control valve and discharging it at higher pressure through the outlet control valve. A spring-loaded check valve is integrated to regulate fluid flow. During the suction stroke, the inlet valve opens while the outlet valve closes, allowing fluid to enter. On the discharge stroke, the inlet valve closes, and the hydraulic piston pushes the fluid out through the outlet valve. The dynamic seal around the hydraulic piston is nearly wear-free and serves to contain pressurized liquid, preventing leakage into the pneumatic system. Depending on the type of fluid, operating temperature, and pressure ratio, different sealing materials and configurations are used.
Note: Most Haskel pumps incorporate a positioner between the pneumatic and hydraulic sections, ensuring complete separation and contamination-free operation. Additionally, the air circulation valve plays a crucial role in controlling the direction of compressed air supply. It consists of a controller and a plunger that directs air to either side of the air piston based on its position. As the piston moves, it activates the control valve at both ends, alternately pressurizing and venting the slide valve to maintain continuous reciprocating motion. When air is exhausted from the pump, it passes through an exhaust muffler to reduce noise. Importantly, Haskel pumps are not designed with metal-to-metal contact, which prevents potential issues caused by leakage at the end of the piston stroke. This design enhances reliability and safety in various applications.
